RECENT EVENTS AT THE GOLDEN GATE CHURCH

LATE 2010:
In September, Rev. Del Lauderback presented a workshop/seminar - A Spiritual Path. Michael Eakin gave instruction in chair yoga exercises during the workshop,
Our Annual Winter Faire/Fall Festival took place on Saturday, November 7, 2010. The Ladies Guild of the church provided home canned jams, jellies, fruit, chutneys, marmalades, etc. for sale, as well as handmade and donated items for sale on the Guild Workbasket. Home baked goods and other items were on sale. The festival ended with drawings for the many prizes on our Grand Raffle.
Rev. James Ehrhart held his third Spiritualist Celebrate Christmas and Candlelight Service on a Friday evening in December.
Our Annual Christmas Tea was held after the Sunday service closest to Christmas.

2011
Out 87th Annual Birthday Dinner to mark the anniversary of our church and the birthdays of Rev. Florence Becker and her daughter Lolly was held in February.

In April, we were privileged to host a meeting of the International Spiritists Federation at our church and could have hosted two more of their meetings in May, if we could have accommodated them on a Sunday morning.
Our Annual Easter Luncheon was held after the service on Easter Sunday.
Our Fourth of July hot dog and baked beans picnic and raffle were held that weekend our side patio after our Sunday service. A beautiful quilt, made by Engeltie Lauderback, representing several months of her labor, was donated by her to the church for the raffle. Our member Janice Foote offered a challenge grant of $1,200 if we could sell $1,200 in raffle tickets in a 3 month period. We did and more. Janice has since offered to match the entire $2,200 we realized from raffle ticket sales. We are grateful to both Janice and Engeltie for their generosity.
Canning for our next Fall Festival began in June, and was on-going during the summer. Many members and friends of the church helped with this project, both with the labor and with donations of fruit, other food, sugar, etc.
Summer Symington conducted an all day workshop on Future Speak/Universal Laws in May.
In May & June, we were privileged to have visiting British medium Tom Flynn serve our church on several occasions, including extended healing services. Mr. Flynn gave a series of private readings, as well.
In July, our 4th of July picnic was held after the Sunday, July 3, service. At the conclusion of the picnic, we held a drawing for a lovely quilt made by Engeltie Lauderback, representing several months of her labor, and donated by her to the church for the raffle. Our member Janice Foote offered a challenge grant of $1,200 if we could sell $1,200 in raffle tickets in a 3 month period. We did and more. We are grateful to both Janice and Engeltie for their generosity.
On August 26, Rev. Del Lauderback began a series of Friday evening classes where he shares the teachings given him by Rev. Florence Becker in the last beginning class taught by her before she passed to Spirit. The class on the Science of Being, a class in spiritual development, is scheduled for 7 weeks and is planned to be repeated in the future.
On September 17, our Guild held another of the series of annual dinners they sponsor, with home cooked food prepared by many of our friends and members, enjoyed by many.
